ShieldDerm Labs was born from a frustrating reality observed inside the dermatology clinic. Working in close collaboration with a board-certified dermatologist, a recurring pattern became clear: Patients—particularly those over the age of 50—were coming in with a specific, unspoken insecurity. As their skin thinned with age and cumulative sun exposure, their hands and forearms were becoming more delicate. Everyday bumps were leaving them prone to a bruised, discolored appearance.
Many of these patients were altering their lifestyles—wearing long sleeves in the summer and constantly trying to hide their arms—because they lacked a dedicated, daily skincare solution to clarify and beautify their skin.

The Problem
Patients—particularly those over the age of 50—were coming in with a specific, unspoken insecurity. As their skin thinned with age and cumulative sun exposure, their hands and forearms were becoming more delicate. Everyday bumps were leaving them prone to a bruised, discolored appearance.
The Gap
Leading products often rely on irritating ingredients like glycolic acid and retinol. Not only can these sting already delicate skin, but alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are known photosensitizers that can increase the skin's vulnerability to the sun. For mature skin that is already sun-damaged, this approach is counterintuitive. The other alternatives were either heavy, unnatural-looking body makeup designed to temporarily paint over the problem, or sticky first-aid ointments that weren't suitable for elegant, daily use. There was no premium, dedicated skincare designed specifically to hydrate and condition this type of delicate skin with a focus on gentle, daily comfort.
The Solution
We partnered with a board-certified dermatologist to develop a formula that met high formulation standards. After extensive development, the patent-pending ToneShield Triad System was finalized—a precise, expertly formulated blend of Tranexamic Acid, Arnica montana, and Ruscus Extract. This led to the creation of ToneShield Hydrating Formula—specifically designed for mature skin with a bruised, sun-damaged appearance. The goal was simple: to create a lightweight, fragrance-free cream that could be used just like a luxury body lotion, but with ingredients specifically chosen to soothe delicate skin and support a more even, healthy-looking vitality.
